The dreaded “itunes could not sync apps to the ipad because the apps installed on the ipad could not be determined” in iTunes

in iTunes I received the following error today when syncing my iPad: “itunes could not sync apps to the ipad because the apps installed on the ipad could not be determined”
After seeing many many fixes on the net, I simply rebooted the iPad and it synced immediately after. I figured I’d share this in case someone else didn’t think of it until the last moment, like I did.
