easy yogurt

I normally have made yogurt in a quite meticulous way, but this time I decided to go the K.I.S.S. approach.
I pulled out a frozen yogurt sample from my freezer to thaw in the fridge the day before, and the day after I did that I took a quart mason jar and filled it with milk. I poured that into a small pot and heated it up to 165 degrees F.
I then took 2 tablespoons of yogurt sample and mixed it in a small bowl with a little milk to make is soluble.
I then put a candy thermometer in and wait until the temp drops to 115, then toss in 2 tablespoons of the yogurt solution and put it into the milk then stir it a bit.

I turned my oven on at it’s lowest temp for a little to warm it up a bit then after 2 or so mins turned it off and opened the door to vent the hot air for a couple of seconds. I slapped a mason jar lid on and tossed it in.

In the morning (i started at 10:00PM) I pulled it out of the oven at about 7:00AM and threw it into the fridge.

You’d figure the oven wouldn’t hold it’s temp for that long but surprisingly everything went fine. Great tasting yogurt, and no worries.

I’m not new to yogurt making, I’ve just never been lax about it. It looks like yogurt is pretty resilient.
